Getting here
The lake is about 100 km from Timișoara and 30 km from Lugoj. A car is the easiest way; by bus you need a change.
By car
- From Timișoara or Lugoj: take the DN6 towards Deva, then at Traian Vuia turn right onto the DJ 681A towards Surducu Mic and Fârdea. This is the main access.
- From Făget: take the DJ 681 through Drăgsinești and Fârdea, a road rebuilt in 2018.
- To the remote shores: the last stretch is gravel or dirt and gets hard to drive after rain.
- Road closures: some events, such as the September rally, close the Surducu Mic–Fârdea road for a whole day. Check before you leave.
Parking
Visitors report that the car park at the main beach is private and paid. To be confirmed
- A public car park is planned with the County Council's new leisure area. To be confirmed
- On summer weekends, arrive early: spaces fill quickly.
- Do not block forest roads, gates or cabin entrances.
Confirmed car parks will appear on the map.
By bus
There is no direct bus from Timișoara to Lacul Surduc. Trips need a change, usually in Lugoj. To be confirmed

Camping and campervans
Local guides mention camping spots on the shore and cabins to rent, and one beach is used for weekend camping. Where camping is allowed still has to be confirmed by the town hall. To be confirmed
- Take your rubbish with you: many stretches of shore have no bins.
- Light fires only where allowed.
- For campervans, the lake is listed on Campercontact.
Walking and cycling
There is no marked route around the lake yet. Cyclists share mixed routes through forest, on asphalt and on unpaved roads on Komoot.
