Before you go in the water

Safety and rules

The lake is deep in many places, and accidents have mostly happened when boats capsized. A few simple rules keep you safe.

Emergency: call 112. Say you are at Lacul Surduc, Fârdea commune, and describe the nearest landmark.

ISU Timiș crews were announced at the lake on weekends. To be confirmed

On the water

  • In some areas the water is about 15 m deep. Do not swim far from the shore.
  • Wear a life jacket on any boat, pedal boat or SUP, especially if you are not a strong swimmer.
  • Do not swim after drinking alcohol, and do not dive where you do not know the depth.
  • Children stay in the water only with an adult next to them.

Lifeguards and swim zones

Lifeguard hours and marked swim zones are not confirmed yet. To be confirmed

Once confirmed, they appear here and on the map.

Rubbish

  • Take your rubbish with you or use the bins only.
  • Rain washes rubbish left on the shore straight into the lake, which supplies water to the Timișoara area.
  • Seen dumped rubbish? Report it.

Quiet and nature

  • People live in the houses and cabins along the shore: keep music at a volume that does not disturb them.
  • The lake and the forests around it are a protected natural area. Do not cut trees or disturb birds.
  • Light fires only where allowed.
